Rules for the 30 Minute Mix
Hello fellow DJ's!
ddhtradio.com
I'm excited to share a new idea for DJ's to get their mixes out there!
I call it the 30 Minute Mix
This is a hybrid concept similar to Mixcloud + Defected Radio - But free.
If you participate, your mix will be put into a rotating weekend playlist.
I am allowing DJ's to put up 30 minute House Music mixes on DDHT RADIO
This is a free service!
The rules and instructions are as follows:
STOP!
If you are interested in doing a 30 minute mix, take some time and LISTEN to radio station DDHT to see if the style of House that you play is compatible with the style of house we play. We play House in the Detroit/Chicago style. Bubblegum Pop, lighweight EuroDisco etc will not be played. If you decide to submit a mix, a panel of DJ's from DDHT will judge the mix and decide whether or not we will add it to the weekend playlist.
1. DDHT Radio is looking for DJ's to create 30 minute House Music mixes in the Detroit/Chicago style. We like a high-powered Jackin' style.
2. DJ's will be required to create an account on a website that allows storage like Dropbox.com or - wetransfer.com (Both sites are free and you get 2 GB of space) You can also upload files directly from your computer to onedrive.com - Instructions are listed here: File Transfers (ddhtradio.com)
3. The DJ will create his/her 30 minute mix. Save the file as an .MP3.
4. The DJ will upload his/her mix to Drobox, Wetransfer or Onedrive and share the file with [email protected]. Inform Scott that the file has been uploaded to your file transfer service, Dropbox etc.
5. The DJ will be allowed to put 2 self-promoting DJ Drops in their mix "You are now in the mix with DJ X", etc... (preferably in the first track and additionally in the middle of your mix.) If you don't have a DJ Drop for yourself, I can make you one.
6. After notification that the file is on your file transfer service, Scott LaRock will download the file from Dropbox, etc, review the file for time, music and explicit content and add 1 DDHT Radio Drop to the mix (in the last track). The mix can only be 30 minutes long. Time / File Length will be strictly enforced.
7. All of the mixes will be played between 7:00PM Thursday thru 7:00PM Sunday. (All times are Eastern U.S.)That's 72 Hours! The DDHT Server that hosts the radio station has complete control of the rotation so it's very important to name your files correctly. This 72 hour window may be extended if we get good participation, so if you have DJ friends let them know...
8.DJ's will be allowed up to (10) 30 minute mixes - (That could be up to 5 hours of YOUR mixes) (All mixes will have to be House Music in the Detroit/Chicago style) - It is up to Scott's discretion as to whether a mix will be played.
ProTip# Every track that plays at 125BPM is NOT House.
9. Each DJ is responsible for his/her own promotion.
(It's up to you to tell your friends to listen to http://ddhtradio.com to hear YOU "In The Mix!")
10. Files must be in the following format: DJInitials30MinMixDateCreated.mp3 i.e. a mix for Scott LaRock will look like this: SL30MinMix11.15.2023.mp3 -Notice the uppercase and lowercase letters and the periods. Some DJs will use 3 initials - That's Acceptable.
Click on the Properties of the .mp3 file.
Verify that the name is correct.
Click on the "Details" Tab. Fill in the "Title", the "Contributing Artist" (You) and the "Album" (30 Minute Mix)
If the file isn't formatted and named correctly, I'm not going to listen to it. Naming the file correctly is so the computer that hosts the station will recognize your mix as a playable .mp3 and rotate it accordingly.
11. Any DJ that submits 5 or more mixes to DDHT can have a bio created if so desired.
Summary: This is a golden opportunity for a DJ to grow his/her brand on a worldwide basis for free. If the file is formatted correctly, the DJ's name will be displayed on the ddhtradio.com website while the file is being played. Sometimes, things just fall into your lap. Take advantage of it. I offer this service because I can. I'm sharing.
Pro Tip# After notifying Scott that the file is available on Dropbox,(and after Scott downloads it) delete the file to conserve your space on Dropbox.
Pro Tip# Create your mix first. Add your DJ drop after the fact. Keep both files because you may want to change your DJ Drop to something like: "Happy Holidays from DJ XYZ!
Pro Tip# Come House Head Hard! You are up against some serious competition.
Hope to hear from you soon! F
